Under such harsh conditions, only robust and reliably performing sensors can ensure precise control over meat handling processes and guarantee the smooth operation of the entire workflow.
2.Goal
The primary challenge in this application lies in the requirement for the sensor to operate continuously and stably in an environment filled with fog, which is a typical characteristic of industrial meat processing plants. The sensor must be sufficiently robust and durable to operate stably and reliably. It needs to detect meat accurately and without error, while remaining unaffected by the fog. To this end, the sensor housing must balance durability and reliability, particularly meeting the IP68 protection level to prevent moisture intrusion, in order to cope with harsh environments and ensure continuous and accurate operation.

3.Solution
In the previous solution, despite using through-beam sensors with an IP68 rating, the drastic temperature fluctuations during cleaning still caused lens condensation. After testing and evaluating multiple IP68-compliant products, the 18GF series of photoelectric through-beam sensors was identified as the ideal choice for this scenario. Its fully sealed housing offers a high level of protection, effectively resisting harsh conditions such as moisture, dense fog, and extreme temperature variations.
